Dr. Poliana Goncalves Barbosa, Ph.D.

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Poliana completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil), a Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Alberta, and a Master’s in Counselling at Athabasca University. She has taught introductory Psychology courses at the University of Alberta and has extensive experience using assessment tools in developmental psychology research.

Her research focused on language and social-cognitive skill development during toddlerhood and the preschool years. Poliana is passionate about translating scientific knowledge into clinical practice. She believes that understanding how our brains work empowers us to recognize our strengths, address our challenges, and reach our full potential.

Poliana provides psychological assessment for children, youth, and adults in the areas of ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties, giftedness, social/emotional challenges, and behavioural concerns.
