About Raquel Karam
Clinical Manager | Counselling Therapist
Raquel is designated as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She is currently completing the Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy program at Yorkville University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Secondary Education from the University of Alberta. Her previous experience as a teacher connects with her counselling practice since she carries a strong belief that psychoeducation is both an important component of preventative care as well as a conduit for impactful behavioural change. Further, Raquel brings a unique perspective having grown up in Edmonton’s Francophone community as well as in a multicultural household.
Raquel creates a safe and empathic space for people to gain insight into the challenges they are facing while using a collaborative approach to work towards attaining their desired goals. She actively seeks to understand her clients within their socio-cultural context while being aware of the hidden stressors that may be affecting them including past trauma. Raquel has a particular interest in supporting academic and business professionals (e.g., teachers, mental health specialists and front-line workers) as they navigate their unique challenges.
Raquel’s services are available in-person and online, in both French and English.
